This is our first skateboard art competition and exhibition. It was an idea formed by Christine Laikind of Firebrick Gallery and Pottery Studio and Linda Gallaher of South Street Skateshop.
The deadline for entries has past. (It was April 8th). We have received 54 entries. The blank decks will be ready for pick up on Friday, April 15th at South Street Skateshop.
We are offering cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and third place. A free t-shirt from XS Tattoos for one honorable mention.
The judges are:
- Joe Ferry, South Street Skateshop
- Chase Golematis, XS Tattoos
- Christine Laikind, Firebrick Gallery and Pottery Studio
Winners wil be announced at our opening reception event scheduled for May 20th.
We are now adding another special feature to this event – a skateboard art silent auction. As of this date, we are calling out to all Michigan artists to join me in this silent auction. I am donating one of my skateboard art and the proceeds will go to the charity of my choice: Paint a Miracle.
Should you decide to join me in this silent auction, let me know by contacting me through my e-mail address (firebrickgallery@att.net) so that I can inform South Street Skateshop. You need to complete your skateboard art by May 18th.
